Anicent Greece and Rome

We have studied Ancient Greece and Rome over the last weeks. Athens was the home of democracy and prided itself on its education. Sparta was the home of military strength. Rome managed to be democratic and have a strong military. America strives to have the best education, the best democracy and the best military in the world.

In which area is it most important that America is the strongest? Education, democracy or military? Explain your answer

Education

We are currently studying the Ancient Greeks. The Greeks put a lot of importance in education. The Athenians taught their children music, writing, public speaking, ethics, so that they could become good public servants and be creative when they got older. The Spartans taught their children to be fierce warriors. In America we have specific subjects that our children learn.
Why do you think you are taught subjects like English, Math, Science, History? (What are we trying to acheive by teaching you these subjects?)
What subjects do you think you would be more helpful to you in the long term?
